Making the robot-legs deadly!

Researcher Jonathan Hurst at Oregon State University is all set to provide more strength and retention of energy to the robotic leg. It is to be noted that the research makes use of a new design enhanced by steel cable tendons with built-in springs. So far, the problem with the legs driven by motors has been the recycling of energy because of lack of snapback from proper tendons. Hurst had created a single leg attached to a boom called “Thumper” while he was a student at CMU and has now improvised with the bi-pedal model. Wait, don’t get too excited with the project because the base for this project is to provide legs to the robots that are as gait as that of animals. Such legs would assist them to run faster and catch their human victims more easily.

Invisible cloak is now "visible"

It will be called the height of privacy, when you can veil things from public by showcasing it to them. Finally, the invisible cloak is “seen”. This cloak is made with the help of meta material. It comprises of ultra small or nano particlese that can make the electromagnetic waves bend around the object wrapped in the cloak. It’s like water carefully avoiding a rock in its path. This works only at 2 D level. All the Harry Potter fans would be proud of having a novel technology being implemented from their favorite novel. The extension of this idea can be made to implement a real cloak that can bend visible light in the near future. But the science lovers would be a little disappointed with the current pragmatic limitations, in it.

Codename Mojave

Although Microsoft is on track for the release of its next version Windows 7 by the end of January 2010, it has found penitence through the unveiling of Windows Codename Mojave. Codename Mojave is nothing but a masquerade of the Windows Vista. Mojave website went live on July 28, 2008 and features the responses of users of Windows Xp, Mac OS X and Linux users about Mojave. This is an attempt by Microsoft to rub away the negative reactions to Windows Vista from the public and the media. The respondents, unaware of the fact that they were actually using Windows Vista, rated an average of 8.5 out of 10 for Mojave against the rather mean 4.4 for Windows Vista. The result of the survey, according to Christopher Flores, Director Windows Communications, has eliminated the speculations surrounding Windows Vista.
