Whether acid rain can be prevented? Yes, it is possible but the thing is possible through molecule only. Recently scientist discovered that an unusual molecule which helps to break down pollutants and more importantly the compounds that cause acid rain. The compound present in the atmosphere has the ability to ‘burn’ or oxidise the pollutants, especially nitric oxides emitted by factories and automobiles. Still, the chemical detailsof how the atmosphere removes nitric acid have not been clear. The find has its significance in countries such as Brazil, India, China,etc where there are automobiles and factories that are unregulated. As per the statement from Lester who said that the molecule had been theorized by atmospheric chemists for 40 years and that they had chased it for years now.
