High speed satellite internet for Africa!

Google in partnership with O3b satellite company are planning to provide ultra-high speed internet connection through 16 medium-earth orbit(MEO) units. The striking thing is that the latency is expected to be only 120 milliseconds and the maximum download speed will be whooping 1.25Gbps. Believe it or not, this is the speed of Japan’s Kizuna which has been set to cover the disconnected Asian regions. But the fact is that these orbital hotspots are to be used by smaller ISPs who’ll in turn provide wireless internet access to the customers. These connections may be through WiMax or 3G. This is really a dream come true for the continent since they have been into all sorts of trouble with very low speed internet.
